172 The Sun is at the centre of the Solar System. It gives out light and heat energy, and its gravity keeps nine planets in orbit. The planets all move anti-clockwise in their orbit, and may have their own moons orbiting the planets. Moving out from the Sun, the planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. The first four planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars are all small, rocky and volcanic. The next four planets, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are all huge, and called the Gas Giants. Pluto is a very small planet on the outside of the Solar System. It is very cold as it is so far from the Sun, and it takes about 250 years to orbit the Sun once. The Solar System is part of our galaxy, a collection of billions of stars known as the Milky Way. Our Sun is just an ordinary star in the Milky Way. The Milky Way is one of millions of galaxies that make up the Universe. Drag the Tiles into position to put the segments of text into the correct order.
